Things I Learned Podcast Episode 19

So, I haven't written a blog for a while and that's mainly because the Liverpool Comedy Festival has been running. And I'm the Artistic Director of the whole thing so it's a fairly hectic time as you can imagine!

Anyway, the whole thing went incredibly well and I even managed to squeeze in a live version of the podcast as part of the Funny Looking Fringe - here's a sneak preview with my guest Helen Keeler, talking about parenting, autism and bipolar disorder:

I'm headed out of town for a visit with family tomorrow, and naturally, that got me thinking about what I'll be carrying to travel and what the best options are. Air travel is an unglamorous activity that requires careful accessories planning and maximum functionality, but the best inspiration for louis vuitton replica handbags solutions comes from an unlikely spot: celebrities. Usually, I'm very much against the idea that celebrities are somehow "lifestyle" experts. I don't want to hear a supermodel's skincare or fitness tips because they're not applicable to my life, in which I am not particularly rich or genetically gifted and do not have the luxury of longchamp outlet spending time to stay perfectly fit and laser-smoothed as part of my job. Travel, though, is the great equalizer: celebrities go through the same airport security, boarding procedures and airplane storage situations the rest of us do, and they do it far more than the average person. When it comes time to choose a carry-on, their choices are worth noting. Because of massive paparazzi presences at LAX and JFK, we have a pretty good idea of the kinds of bags frequent-flying celebrities use when they're in the air, and the most popular, by far, is a simple, large, lightweight tote bag that fits on the shoulder easily. I've always looked for zippers and pockets in my miu miu replica handbags, but most celebs don't seem to care much for those features, which makes me wonder if I'm overthinking their necessity. If I'm being honest with myself, I usually just end up throwing everything inside and leaving the zipper open anyway. With all that in mind, I went to some of our favorite online retailers and picked out the best of the best when it comes to choosing a travel bag like your favorite star. I need a good travel bag that could also be used for client meetings, and that Balenciaga looks perfect, but can it fit on one's mulberry replica handbags shoulder? The straps look short and a little too thin for that sort of use.

Durante una delle tante feste a cui entrambi partecipavano, Santos-Dumont chiese a Louis Cartier un replica orologi che potesse consultare anche in volo, perché questo non era possibile con i classici modelli da taschino.

The Time I Screamed at my Kids

Before my kids arrived I swore I’d never shout at them. But choosing how to approach parenthood before your kids are born is like a caterpillar deciding what kind of butterfly they’re gonna be while they’re still building the cocoon. ‘I’ll still do loads of charity work, of course. And I’ll be REALLY nice to moths too, even though they’ll probably hate me because I’ll be so bloody gorgeous.’ Theory and reality are like sugar and shit. I’ve raised my voice to my kids more times than I can count. Often just to shout ‘STOP SHOUTING!’ which I’m aware doesn’t set a great example. ‘You should NEVER shout at your kids.’ And that’s fine. In theory. Because everything’s fine in theory. The Slimfast diet is a piece of piss until day two when you’ve had three hours sleep and someone offers you a Wagon Wheel. Of course, I never WANT to shout at them. I love them more than words can describe. But those you love are also the ones blessed with the innate ability to boil your piss q

We Have a Winner!

Ladies and gentlemen - some news! One recipient of my newsletter is now the 'lucky' (ahem) winner of an exclusive gig from me IN THEIR HOUSE! And that person is... Lyn Morter!  Well done, Lyn! (Btw, if anyone from  Ofcom  is reading, you can check the legitimacy of this result via the  Facebook Live video  I did last week.) When I informed Lyn that she'd won she simply said, 'I've never heard of you' and 'How did you get my phone number?' so I'm sure that will be a great gig for everyone. (Only joking. She was thrilled.) Thanks to all of you for entering. But what now, Sam?  I hear you screaming at your smartphones. Well, I'll be taking things a wee bit easier through August, spending some much needed time with my family after all the touring. But just like that former Governor of California of Austrian descent, I'LL BE BACK (sorry) in September with more blogs, videos and general waffle.  I'm also heading b
